Live interviews

Schedule and run a live video call with a candidate directly from FocalVAHire — no Zoom or Google Meet account needed.

How it works

FocalVAHire uses Daily.co to create private video rooms. When you schedule a live interview:

  1. A private video room is created automatically.
  2. The candidate is emailed a personal join link.
  3. You open the room from the candidate's review page.
  4. Both of you join from your browsers — no downloads required.

The room supports camera, microphone, screen share, and optional local recording. It's valid for 7 days from creation.

Scheduling a live interview

  1. Open a candidate from the Pipeline tab.
  2. Find the Live video interview panel near the top of the page.
  3. Click Schedule live interview.
  4. The room is created and the candidate receives an email with their join link.
  5. The button changes to Open room — click it to join as the host.

Note: Each candidate can only have one live interview room. If you accidentally create one and want to start over, contact support.

Joining the interview

Click Open room on the candidate's review page. This opens a full-screen interview room in a new tab. You are automatically the host — you have controls to mute participants, end the call, and manage recording.

The candidate joins using the link they received by email. They don't need a Daily.co account — they just click the link and allow camera/microphone access in their browser.

Recording

Local recording is enabled in every room. Any participant can click the record button in the call interface to start a local recording — it saves to their computer as a video file when the call ends.

Cloud recording (saved automatically to your Daily.co dashboard) is available on Daily.co's paid plans.

Browser compatibility

Live interviews work in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Safari has limited WebRTC support and is not recommended for live video calls.
