Reviewing candidates
Everything you can do on the candidate review page — from watching videos to collaborating with your team.
Opening a candidate
Click any candidate card in the Pipeline tab to open their review page. You can also navigate directly to /candidates/[id] if you have the link.
Watching video answers
Each question the candidate answered appears as a video player. Videos are stored on your server and stream directly — no third-party hosting. You can watch, pause, and rewatch as many times as you like.
If you've run AI analysis, you'll also see a transcript button below each video that shows the spoken words as text.
AI Analysis panel
The AI Analysis panel appears at the top of the candidate page. Click Run AI Analysis to:
- Transcribe all video answers to text (via OpenAI Whisper)
- Analyse sentiment, communication clarity, and key topics (via Claude)
- Get a 3-sentence summary of the candidate's overall performance
Analysis runs in the background and takes about 30–60 seconds depending on the length of the videos. Refresh the page if results haven't appeared after a minute.
Note: AI Analysis is available on Pro accounts when the platform has AI enabled.
Notes thread
The notes section works like a team chat — each note shows who wrote it and when. Everyone on your team with access to this job can read and add notes.
Notes are a good place to record observations that aren't captured by the star rating — for example, "Great energy, but struggled with the technical question about architecture".
Star rating / scorecard
Each reviewer can submit a 1–5 star rating for a candidate. The team average is shown alongside individual ratings.
Your rating is saved per candidate per reviewer — you can update it any time. The average updates automatically when any team member changes their score.
Changing status
Use the status buttons in the top right of the candidate page to update their status. Available statuses are:
- Pending — Default. Invited but no decision yet.
- Shortlisted — Worth a second look.
- Approved — Moving forward. If BambooHR is connected, a new hire record is created automatically.
- Rejected — A rejection email is sent automatically if you have an email template set up for this job.
- Advanced — Moved to the next stage.
Sending a status portal link
Candidates often wonder where they stand after submitting an interview. Click Send status link to email them a personal link where they can:
- See a 5-step timeline showing where they are in the process
- Withdraw their application if they've taken another role
The link is valid for 30 days and doesn't require the candidate to create an account.
