Career page & apply form
Give your company a branded public careers page, customise the apply form, and optionally collect diversity data.
Branded career page
FocalVAHire can host a public careers page for your company — for example, focalhire.com/careers/acme-corp. It lists all your active jobs with "Apply now" buttons.
To set it up:
- Go to Settings in the top navigation.
- Under Company & career page, enter your company name.
- Enter a URL slug — this is the last part of your career page URL. It can only contain lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens (e.g.
acme-corp). - Click Save.
- Your career page is now live at
/careers/your-slug.
You can share this URL on your company website, LinkedIn, or anywhere you recruit from. When a new job is added and set to active, it appears on the page automatically.
Custom application fields
The standard apply form collects name, email, phone, and resume. You can add extra fields specific to each job — for example, a portfolio URL for a design role, or years of experience for an engineering role.
To add custom fields:
- Open a job and go to the Settings tab.
- Scroll to Custom fields.
- Click + Add field.
- Set the field label (what the candidate sees), the type (text, number, URL, or long text), and whether it's required.
- Click Save fields.
Custom fields appear on the apply form immediately. Candidates' answers are saved with their application and visible when you review them.
You can add up to 10 custom fields per job.
EEO / Diversity survey
The EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) survey is an optional section at the bottom of the apply form. It collects voluntary diversity information from candidates:
- Gender
- Race / Ethnicity (EEOC standard categories)
- Veteran status
- Disability status
All fields are clearly labelled as optional. Candidates can answer "Prefer not to say" for any or all questions.
To enable it for a job:
- Open the job and go to the Settings tab.
- Scroll to EEO / Diversity survey.
- Toggle it on.
Important: EEO data is never shown to reviewers or on candidate cards. It is only accessible via the Download EEO report link in the Settings tab, which produces a CSV with aggregate data. This separation is intentional — diversity data should inform company-level reporting, not individual hiring decisions.
The candidate experience
Here's what the process looks like from the candidate's perspective:
- They click the apply link (from your career page, an email, or a job board).
- They fill in the apply form — name, email, phone, resume, any custom fields, and optionally the EEO survey.
- They receive a confirmation email immediately after applying.
- If invited to interview, they receive an email with a personal link to record their video answers.
- After submitting the interview, they can receive a status portal link from you to track where they are in the process.
Candidates never need to create an account at any step.
